An author sighting

Bonjour!

Yesterday after writing about the new Diana Gabaldon book I just purchased and am reading, I happened to pop on her website (something I haven’t done in years). After wandering around I noticed her Australian and New Zealand book tour dates. Which got me thinking, if she’s in Oz where are her U.S. tour dates? A little more searching uncovered that she had the launch release party for the book Tuesday in Scottsdale and would you believe, the second stop on the tour was yesterday in . . . DENVER!

Not just in Denver, but Highlands Ranch which is right near my sister’s place – so I packed up my sis and we headed over to the author speaking, reading an excerpt and doing a book signing. Now the bummer part is that I had already purchased my copy from Barnes and Noble and didn’t realize that you had to buy your copy of the book from the Tattered Cover (the book store where she was speaking) in order for her to sign the book (they put your number on your purchase receipt, then called up numbers for her signing). So that makes sense and I no way was upset by it, they deserve a right to patron their own business, but I was bummed I hadn’t realized or heard about the signing earlier. In any event it was so cool to listen to her speak, talk about her writing process, how she found an agent, etc. and was really helpful for me on the writing front. Not to mention she’s about the damn cutest thing ever.

I have some pics of her but my sister’s boyfriend brought up a good point last night when I was getting ready to post some pics (mainly – can you use a pic of someone without thier permission?) and I’m not sure, so in respect to Mrs. Gabaldon, whom I do so much respect, I will not put up the pics of her, but me and if you want to check out her website you can do so at www.dianagabaldon.com

In the meantime, I have some morning math problems to write up for my niece and a selected hairstyle to create (she is looking for a chignon this morning, what a cultured little lady this eight year old is) so I must away.

Make today a beautiful day, share hope and a smile, and I will talk with you tomorrow!

There are a whole lotta ladies up in this book store! That's what you get when you go to a signing for a historical fiction/romance/time travel book.

Duchess Digest Day

Submitted by on September 7, 2009 - 4:29 am

Bonjour!

For all of you American readers – Happy Labor Day! Hope you’re out doing something fun. I am at home packing, which ordinarily would not sound very fun, but since it’s packing to return to the West Coast; it makes me very happy indeed.

The beauty to life is there is something and someone for everyone. Many love it back here, which is great, but I have a lot in common with Mr. Morrison when he said, “The west is the best. The west IS the best. Get here, and we’ll do the rest.” I’m coming!

So today’s Duchess Digest day and it’s all about are you taking liberty? or are you free? I think lately I’ve been exercising a lot more personal liberty over freedom. Time for self-discipline to start being a big part of my life again.

Read on and tell me what you think. Love hearing from all you Duchesses out there!

Gearing up for another cross-country road trip - yay! Back to the west coast.

Your Life, Your Style Premieres!

Submitted by on September 4, 2009 - 3:52 am

Bonjour!

I had a blast co-hosting the first episode of Your Life, Your Style with Catherine Wednesday night. The integration between the show and i-tunes so you can download it (for free!) to be your very own will be up soon.

In the mean time, you can either visit the show’s website at:

www.blogtalkradio.com/yourlifeyourstyle

to listen to the most recent episode, or I’m going to attempt to put the widget for the most recent show right here on the website so you can just listen through the Duchess Guide.

Also, there have been a lot of questions about getting on the Duchess e-mail newsletter. I send out a weekly newsletter updating you on all things Duchess, inspirational, fun and useful every Friday – so if you’d like to be on the newsletter list (which will also have info and reminders on all upcoming episodes of Your Life, Your Style!) go to my coaching website;

www.theduchessequation.com

Enter your contact info (email and name only) and then you’ll be on my list for every future e-newsletter.

So excited to share all of these new prospects with you! Here is to your wonderful reign as Duchess of your own kingdom this weekend!
