Gratitude

Bonjour!
For everyone in the States today – Happy Thanksgiving.
I am blessed with a few very important and special to me international friends who are always asking, ‘What is Thanksgiving about?” I usually say eating a lot – but today I’m realizing – it’s really about being grateful and family and love. Pretty simple really. Not lip service grateful but really grateful. I don’t know how I’ve been so blessed to have such great friends and family and really so much love in my life – but damn if I’m not one blessed girl with a lot to be grateful for. . .
So even though the day had some unexpected turns I am working through, I do overall feel really grateful. Life never turns out the way we think it will, but often times it can turn out even better. Actually – that was the point of my article this week – serendipity and the way things can turn out better than we planned. Maybe a 6th Avenue Heartache (the song not the place) will end up being the love of my life. Maybe I will get my books published. Maybe things will be just grand.
And until all those maybe’s come true – life is still a very beautiful marvel to me. Any moment can change your life. I’m grateful for that.

Bonjour!
I managed to make my way to Los Angeles again yesterday. A beautiful, if long and gratefully uneventful journey. And with unpacking to do, a place to set up and work on the agenda, I will make today short and sweet.
I’m loving being back in Los Angeles. I really enjoy this city and have found a depth to it I had never imagined possible. Also very grateful for the incredibly high quality and caliber of individuals here. I’m amazed by how many truly wonderful, thoughtful, kind and fun people I meet every day in this city. I always thought it was the land of superficial and sociopath. Turns out, like most places and people in the world, it’s much more good than bad.
Here’s to a wonderful Monday for you! I’m off to settle in and get some work done!

Bonjour!
So I was up late last night getting some things updated here on the blog. For one, if you haven’t signed up for the weekly newsletter, do it now! The sign up is on the top right, just need your email, it’s that easy!
Then I added the new Facebook fan page for Duchess, so be sure to join that community as well (and also, Twitter has been up, but with the new i-phone I”m much better at actually using it, so if you aren’t following the Duchess on twitter, be sure to now! And feel free to direct message me as I actually know how to use it now!).
With the blog properly integrated and updated, I’m feeling good about heading out to Los Angeles again. Wahoo! Also, wanted to share a great new blog I discovered, okay – that I helped set-up which is a new link on the link lovin roll to the side as well. It’s under Maja (ma-zja) which is what I call my lovely, talented, beautiful and amazing mom! Yes, she is a writer. A far superior, published writer than I – the apple did not fall far from the tree. So while we have different styles a bit, you will love the hell out of my mom and her amazing blogs. She is the best woman in the whole world and I don’t mind saying so!! Anything good about me at all was inherited from my momma!!
So check it out in the margin or here:

Have a great weekend!!!

I love this picture of me and my mom. I feel like you can see where I got any good looks from - my mom is so beautiful!! Just wish I would've gotten her blue eyes too!! She's my best friend in the world.
Seeing is believing?

Bonjour!
Today’s post will be short and sweet. How many of us see but don’t observe? How many of us go through life every day not really noticing the beauty of our surroundings, the joy that being loved by close friends and family can hold or even the fulfillment and purpose that comes out of our daily work and actions?
If seeing truly is believing, open your eyes to what really “is” in your life!!!
Don’t wait until the people you love are gone to appreciate them and let them know. Don’t wait for the right moments to start enjoying your life. Carpe diem duchesses!
Love and enjoy and appreciate now.

Bonjour!
This morning I wanted to share with all the L.A. local ladies an event happening this Friday night at the O Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It’s called S.P.A.R.K.
S.P.A.R.K. is being presented by Lioness LA (which was founded in part by a very dear friend of mine – and one kick ass business woman I might add) and stands for Style, Passion, Appeal, Rhythm and Kindle.
The aim S.P.A.R.K. is to network and mingle in a co-ed environment. Or in the words of the S.P.A.R.K. invite;
“Join us for a classic and savvy evening at the “O” Hotel dedicated to the passionate innovators of Entertainment, Art, Fashion and Business. Network, mingle, dance, or meet that special someone – all while socializing in the city’s exciting downtown core, blocks away from LA Live.”
Maybe you’ll meet a great new dating prospect, maybe you’ll meet a great new mastermind partner or business associate. The possibilities are endless, and it’s both for single professionals and as a “date night” for those of you who are already coupled up. I’ll be there – so at the very least it’s a chance to meet the Duchess in person (if that is any enticement what so ever! ha ha!).
Here are the specifics for Friday’s event – I hope to see you there!

Bonjour!
I hope you all had a wonderful and safe Halloween. I had a great time with some close friends, even went to a fun family party hosted by my Uncle every year. There is nothing better than time with close friends. . .
And today it’s back to work. I couldn’t be happier. Everyone processes events, relationships and situations differently. I happen to be my most productive, most effective and very happy when good things are happening (okay, this is probably not unique to me). And ladies, very good things are happening right now. Things I’ve been intending and visualizing and wanting for months and months, some for years. .
Things never turn out the way we expected, but in my life, they always seem to turn out really good. Work seems to be lining up, my new place in L.A. is fabulous and I’m so happy to have it, friendships and girlfriends are at their best and would you believe, even the love life is on the up and up. Yep, I said it. And I won’t say more, because I want it to work this time – at least for as long as it can, but I’m very happy.
So here’s to things coming together and to all the ways and people that make our lives such beautiful things.
