Breaking Bad

Bonjour!
I wanted to share this week’s Duchess Digest article from Single Minded Women with you, esp seeing as the New Year is fast on it’s way.
I have some very lofty and exciting goals for 2010 and it feels nice to start this year in a much happier, more joyful and hopeful place than where 2009 started from! As my friend Catherine and I like to sing, “ooohhh child, things are gonna get easier, ooooh child things’ll be brighter!”
This is the first year in a while where I can see concrete plans, people and places coming together to make happy thoughts feel more like a tangible reality. I hope your taking the time to nurture yourself, get very very specific about what you want and are formulating the plans and actions you need to start taking you there!
If you need some help breaking the bad habits you’d like to overcome – check out this week’s Duchess Digest below.
Long may you reign in prosperity and love in 2010!!!

In Theaters December 25, 2009
Writer/director Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday) directs Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin in It’s Complicated, a comedy about love, divorce and everything in between.
Jane (Streep) is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa
Barbara bakery/restaurant and has-after a decade of divorce-an amicable
relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin). But when Jane
and Jake find themselves out of town for their son’s college graduation,
things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns into the
unimaginable-an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness
(Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.
Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Martin), an architect
hired to remodel Jane’s kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam
starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he’s become part of a love
triangle.
Should Jane and Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the
second time around? It’s complicated.
Tis the season ladies

Bonjour!
I feel as though I’m slacking lately with the blog! I used to be so faithful about every day but life seems to catch up with my sometimes and I neglect the poor Duchess Guide.
Another very fun and busy week in LA. Spent Monday driving back to L.A. – Tuesday night met up with the twin for dinner and a chat and then off to Harvelle’s in Santa Monica to watch my amazing girlfriend Andree perform. It was epic. I actually danced (and that’s without drinking – the music was that powerful! and fun). It was such a blast. Even got hit on a few times – this rarely happens to me but is always (well usually) appreciated as a kind gesture, even if it’s not reciprocated. I have a far too interesting man in my life to bother with pick-up lines at a bar. But it’s still very complimentary isn’t it?!
I’m feeling run down, as is evidenced by my eleven hours of sleep last night. I’ve been lapsing into sleep comas, still responding to texts and emails (albeit incoherently with responses like “90″ and “dime” to questions asking how are you or what’s going on) but responding just the same.
So with the holidays coming up, and many of us single or at least single by proximity, this week’s Duchess Digest was on surviving the holidays at home. My family is pretty good about this, but in years past all the questions about being single (or not bringing someone home) at Christmas can be a bit trying. If you can relate, or know someone who can, check out this week’s article.
Now I have to go search for more living arrangements and submit my column . . . . you’ll have to entertain yourselves until tomorrow
