Confidence
There is the age old saying that confidence is sexy. It’s true. A woman truly confident in herself, not matter her circumstances, is a truly fun, unique creature unlike any other. She has that certain ‘jolie laide’ just like you! Are you focusing on your jolie laide or are you pointing out what’s wrong? Remember, it’s often the things about you that are unique and different that make you a creature of intrigue and mystery unlike any other – so celebrate your individuality and be confident in all the talents and fun you have to share with the world.
So while we’re on the subject – you know that confidence is sexy, that’s a great place to start. It would stand to reason then that the opposite of sexy is maybe scary? And the opposite of confidence is insecurity (and baggage). And that’s today’s dating tip. Ladies, check your baggage and insecurities at the door. Everyone, seriously let me repeat that, EVERYONE, is insecure and has some kind of baggage. It’s up to you how you handle that. Are you going to let your future be destroyed by your past? Or are you going to choose to acknowledge what got you to where you are now, say thanks (and in some cases ouch – but thanks anyway because I’ll be you’ve learned a few things over the years from the bad stuff too) and good riddance to bad rubbish.
Let go and see how confident you become! An effortless and open attitude about the good things life has in store for you, with dating, love, and all the rest of life’s gifts – is like a magnet. You’ll draw in people and experience that only further reinforce your position of confidence in yourself.
Want something you can do right now? Well here’s a practical tip that will help increase your confidence immediately. Notice when you get a compliment and notice how you react. Do you genuinely accept and feel grateful for the comment about how great your work was today? What about when a stranger compliments your great style, look or how beautiful your hair looks today? Do you immediately dismiss it? Diffuse it with a quick reciprocating compliment or a brush off qualifier? Why? Why are you uncomfortable having great things said to you? You should believe it! So start practicing taking a compliment. Really, do! You should be practicing getting really good at taking compliments by simply and genuinely saying thanks and smiling. That’s it. A simple “Thank You” is all you need to start getting good at taking compliments and see how quickly your confidence improves. Also, when you see someone who looks great, even if they’re a stranger, start practicing giving really great and sincere compliments. It brightens everyone’s day.
Increase your confidence in yourself, what you have to offer and all the individual qualities that make you fabulous; and leave that baggage to the past!
