Back to Work . . .

Bonjour!

Another short weekend has come and gone as I get ready to head back to the office this morning. The past few days have been busy, so here’s the quick recap: Thursday night I dragged the twin out to Westwood to take a second tour of the apartment I really like out there. It actually was much better, bigger and cuter then I remembered and the twin liked it too. Then I drove downtown to meet a very dear friend from Park City who was in town on business. He was staying down at the Biltmore, which is a kick ass hotel by the way, so we grabbed dinner down that way. The only problem was the Britney Spears concert was happening to there were throngs of teenage girls and gay twenty-somethings with “I’m Britney’s Bitch” t-shirts stumbling around arm and arm. It was quite a scene.

Friday was looking at a guest house in Santa Monica then dinner and drinks (although yours truly refrained) with the twin and co-workers after the closing whistle blew.

Saturday morning was back to the guest house to do a doggy greet (the perk to this place was a large fenced yard and a dog-mate) then chilaquiles and mimosas at brunch with my #5 Chakra Guy (can you guess his dominant chakra – mine’s 3, in case you were wondering – #3 Chakra Goddess to be exact) and I then I dragged him out to Westwood to look at my prospective apartment. After giving it the thumbs up we walked to Westwood Village from the apartment (bonus – in addition to the park and tennis courts!) and went to the Hammer, a small museum with a permanent collection and a featured exhibit. I can honestly say there was some cool art, but the best thing about the Hammer was the architecture. I was more smitten by the building and the open spaces then anything else. Once we wrapped that up I changed and went over to Runyan with Labrador to meet my amazing personal trainer for a workout. It was hot as hell but we made it through an intense hike and workout and Labrador got to run around like a happy little heathen.

Sunday morning I attended a celebrity charity event for the Wonder of Reading at ArcLight Hollywood. I was able to get two tickets through work to this really fun and cute (and thank god air-conditioned) event that featured tons of food, goodie bags, and activities for kids. I met the twin and her friends there and we all listened to Shia LaBouf read children’s stories to a crowd. It was cute and fun but most entertaining were the kids. It was like little-kid-crack in there with all the characters in costume and games. Sort of like watching a bunch of drunken sailors in a whorehouse at port. They were crying, laughing, running around and bumping into people. Hilarious.

Then it had to have been 95 degrees or hotter yesterday – so I headed to the beach for some sun and a nap. Several hours later I came home and worked on catching up around the house. I’m trying to pack and stay productive and it’s not working out too great. I was pretty much feeling like an utter and horrible failure last night when, checking my email, I read some unopened items from the past few days. One of which was my trainer and stylist and wonderful friend’s newsletter where she quoted my website as being an inspiration to her. Oh my God! How on earth could I be an inspiration to anyone? I felt awful last night, so to read that someone else felt like that was mind blowing. Sometimes I feel like a fraud because I don’t always feel happy or motivated or inspired. I get tired and drained and grumpy like everyone else. I guess the biggest thing is to pick ourselves up, dust off the crappy attitude, and get back on that bucking bitch of horse called life. Sometimes the ride is exhilarating, other times it sucks getting thrown, but it’s always a wild adventure!

So here’s your thought for the day, mainly because I’m selfish and it’s what I need to remember today as I move forward – I hope it helps your day too.
