California Dreaming

Bonjour!

It’s Monday yet again and I’m off into a new week of adventures. I can honestly tell you that for the first time in over a decade of professional experience – I LOVE the work I am doing and I love my job. It’s a whole new experience to wake up every day happy about what I’m heading out to do, excited about the people I am working with and open to new experiences and learning that come literally every day now. It’s something, much like a great relationship, that I’ve dreamed about for a long time.

And all this comes at the end of a really amazing weekend. My cousin, whom I have always adored and been quite close to despite his globe trotting, ever changing address (India, Hong Kong and now Sydney . . . NYC – watch out!) I’ve remained in contact with and love to pieces, was in town! Yay! The only family I have all the way out here in SoCal is a wonderful Auntie in San Diego. And I don’t get down to see her as much as I like so with her birthday being Friday, my cuz in town from Sydney and my Nana & Bunka over from Arizona – the planets had aligned for a great family filled weekend. While many of you may have spent the holidays with your family, I this year was not able to, so to be around family for the first time since November was bliss. And my auntie and my cousin inspire me. They’re so fun, intelligent, hard working and successful and I’ve always admired their great attitudes, their sense of humor and their commitment to family. I love them! Throw in my grandparents and I was on cloud nine.

So this little Duchess is filled up on family time, inspiration, sunshine and just a generally rosy outlook on life.

I hope whatever you’re up to today and this week you remember to take time for yourself, for your friends and for your family. These amazing and inspiring people and community in your life can really fill you with optimism and joy. I know my family does! If I am in reality half as amazing as my family always makes me feel – then watch out world!!

Also the count down to the British Invasion is on. . . One if by land, two if by sea, and several months of fun if by plane. I’ll take the latter. Grae is nearly on his way here and I am over the moon. A real boyfriend . . . what will that be like? In a word; awesome.

Sundays at Swamis Beach in San Diego.
